BMW X6 - a technological class act
Ultimate Driving Pleasure
The new BMW X6 is a technological tour de force, both in the more obvious aspects of the car and in the subtler details.
Efficient Dynamics
The new BMW X6 has been designed in line with the principles of BMW's so-called 'efficient dynamics' approach. The aim of this approach simply to mimimise the impact of the vehicle on its environment whilst remaining true to BMW's 'ultimate driving experience' promise and pedigree.
Air vent control
A number of 'green' solutions have been sought, designed and applied in the design of the new BMW X6, one of which is the air vent control. Cooling ducts at the front of the car, allowing air through them, has a negative effect on the aerodynamic efficiency of a vehicle. Air vent control does exactly what it says on the tin. By keeping air vents in the front of the vehicle closed until such time as the engine's cooling requirements demand, the BMW X6 proves far sleeker than its size would suggest for longer. The addition of reduced rolling resistance tyres also enhance this car's green credentials by helping reduce the resistance and thereby reducing overall consumption.
Brake regeneration
Brake regeneration and clever solenoid technology work together to recharge the new BMW X6's batteries when you lift your foot off the floor as well as when you apply the brakes. When its time to speed off into the distance, the solenoid used for recharging the batteries during coasting or braking disengages allowing the car to accelerate freely, without interference.
All these measures mean that the new BMW X6 is already EU5 Compliant, the latest raft of emissions measures coming into force in 2009.
ActiveHybrid Technology
The most significant development from a technology perspective is BMW's plans to launch its ActiveHybrid version of the new BMW X6, the first hybrid engine the Bavarian firm ventures to market.
Safety on the road comes courtesy of BMW's Xdrive four wheel drive system, complemented by the first application of BMW's Dynamic Performance Control, which distributes power between the rear wheels as and when loads and conditions dictate.
Whatever the occasion, whatever the advantage, you're sure to wow your friends at the golf club or down the pub with all the trivia about the new BMW's X6 fantastic technology.
